The Makeshift Militia
A Refreshing Break from the Improv Mainstream

Apr

It may appear that the Makeshift Militia is inactive  at the moment….

That’s exactly what we wanted you to think.

A true Militia appears only in times of need – the improv scene in Kansas City is thriving right now, so our work here is done for now.

But as soon as we are called for again, the Makeshift Militia will return. That is a promise from all of us to you.

The KC improv festival is over, and it was an awesome time. We put on a show that we’re very proud of, and we’ve officially come full circle from our roots.

So what’s the Militia up to these days?

We’re dilligently rehearsing every week, experimenting and playing as usual.

Ryan is moving away to LA, so he has left the team. It’s a huge loss for us, and he’ll be missed.

James, Magie, and Grant are working on an original play at UMKC, adapted from Checkhov short stories. It’s an awesome project, but very time consuming, leaving them unable to perform improv until the end of the run, in late October.

Anthony is finishing up his run of The Heidi Chronicles at UMKC, and will begin work on a new play shortly after that.

We’ll be back performing before you know it!
